— Daniel J. Vogt, 71, who farmed near Moundridge for many years, died Sunday evening at Mercy Hospital. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Garden Township Mennonite Church, and burial was made in a Wichita cemetery. He is survived by his widow of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Slover and Mrs. Alida [sic Alieda] Gaeddert of Wichita; four brothers and four sisters.

DANIEL J. VOGT

Daniel J. Vogt was born April 8, 1887, in Harvey County near Moundridge, Kan. He passed away quietly in his sleep at Mercy Hospital, Moundridge, on Sept. 28 at 8:15 p.m., having reached the age of 71 years, five months and 20 days.

He lived in Harvey County all his life and was an accomplished farmer. He retired in 1957. He had been in failing health for the past four months and became seriously ill just three days before his passing.

He was baptized July 5, 1903, by Rev. John Goering and became a member of the First Mennonite Church of Christian, Kansas. In 1909 he transferred his membership to the Garden Township Mennonite church of which he remained a member until death. For a number of years he served his church as a member of the board of trustees.

On Oct. 24, 1909, he was married to Henrietta Rilling. They shred the joys and sorrows of life for nearly 49 years. To this union were born two daughters, Mr. Vogt was a devoted husband, father and neighbor. He was willing to help where he could.

He leaves his wife Henrietta; two daughters Mrs. Mildred Slover and Mrs. Alida [sic Alieda] Gaeddert; two sons-in-law; one grandson Daniel Henry Gaeddert; four sisters and four brothers.
