DIES IN PLANE CRASH EN ROUTE TO SCENE OF FATHER’S PASSING

Double funeral services are to be held at Moundridge this week for W. D. Vogt, well-known retired lumber dealer there, and his 32-year-old son, Clayton W. Vogt.

The elder Vogt passed away at Edinburg, Texas on Thursday, Jan. 12, and his son was killed Friday evening in the crash of his chartered plane en route from Wichita to Texas to bring his mother home. Also killed in the plane crash was the pilot, Charles P. Hephner, 28, of Wichita.

According to news reports, the light plane was finally located Saturday night on a ranch near Poth, Texas, where it had crashed into a water tank. It is believed bad weather may have caused the crash.

Clayton Vogt, former student of Bethel college, was associated with the K-V Construction company. He leaves his wife and a son and daughter aged 11 and seven. Both father and son were members of the West Zion Mennonite church, Moundridge.
