New York Boy Falls To His Death from Self-Unloading Wagon

Lowville, N. Y. — Kurt Virkler, 5, died on Tuesday, June 20, as the result of a fall from a self-unloading wagon.

The boy was riding on the wagon pulled by a tractor, driven by his father, when he fell off and apparently hit his head on the wagon edge. The father turned around and noticing the boy was missing found him directly behind the wagon.

The child was taken to Lewis County General Hospital and was transferred about 3:30 pm. to the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown. He died at 8:10 p.m.

Funeral services were held at the First Mennonite Church on Friday forenoon, June 23.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alton A. Virkler; a sister, Sheri Marie, 6; and a brother Dale Joseph, 2.
