Former County Clerk In Illinois Dies

Eureka, Ill. — Mrs. Ina (Bachman) Vercler, 55, wife of Lloyd I. Vercler and former Woodford County Clerk, died Feb. 25 at her home near here after a long illness. She was born, married and died in the same home.

Funeral services were conducted Feb. 27 at the Calvary Mennonite Church, Washington, with Rev. Ben Esch and Rev. Ezra Yordy in charge.

Mrs. Vercler began work in the county clerk's office here at the age of 16. In 1935 she was made chief deputy county treasurer, and in 1938 chief deputy clerk, both under S. E. Naffziger. She was the first budget clerk to be appointed for Woodford County.

In 1956 she was appointed County Clerk protem to fill the unexpired term of Mr. Naffziger, and was elected to the office in 1958. Due to ill health, she did not seek reelection in 1966. Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Beth Ina, of the home.
