WILLIAM HENRY UNRUH

William Henry Unruh, son of Henry and Mary (nee Becker) Unruh, was born in Poland on January 28, 1868. At the age of six he was brought to America and was reared on a farm, near McPherson, Kansas.

When he was 18 years old he was baptized upon confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and was received into the membership of the Canton Mennonite church near Canton, Kansas. In later years, upon moving to Newton, Kansas, he became a member of the First Mennonite church at that place, and remained a member there until his death.

On December 19, 1893, he was united in marriage with Carolina Johnson, who preceded him in death just five weeks ago. To that union were born 11 children, two of whom preceded them in death.

Since the death of his wife, Mr. Unruh's health had been failing. On March 28, 1946, he was suddenly called home to be with the Lord. He was the last of a large family of 27 children to depart form this life. On the day of his death he had reached the age of 78 years and 2 months.

Rev. H. D. Burkholder, pastor of the Immanuel Mennonite Church, Los Angeles, California, conducted the funeral service at the Little Church Around the Corner. interment was made in the Inglewood Park Cemetery April 2, 1946.
