Peter H. Unruh [sic Peter A. Unruh]

Peter A. Unruh, son of Abraham and Elizabeth Unruh, was born in Russia on August 25, 1851. He was married to Susan Koehn in 1872 and in 1874 they came to America.

To this union two children were born, a son, Benjamin, and a daughter, Elizabeth, who died in infancy.

For a few years they lived in Pennsylvania, where the mother of these children passed away in 1875. In April 1877, Mr. Unruh was again married to Mary Boese after which they came westward and lived in Iowa for a number of years. In 1892 they went to Missouri. This has been their home ever since. Eleven children came to bless this union, two sons, Jacob and Joseph, and a daughter, Helena (Mrs. Maggee) preceded them in death. The mother of these children passed away on November 18, 1930.

Peter A. Unruh, in his early years made a careful study of the Bible and continued to cherish it through the years. The past two years he was bedfast and expressed his readiness to go home. He lived to be 88 years of age. He passed out of this life on October 27, 1939, and was buried beside his wife in Garden City, Mo.

He leaves many friends and relatives to mourn his departure, also the following sons and daughters: Benjamin P., Harper, Kansas; Abraham M., Greeley, Colorado; John C., Los Angeles, California; Henry, whose whereabouts is unknown; Daniel J. of Harper, Kansas; Edward E. of Denver, Colorado; Mrs. Mary Bayne, North Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Esther Williams, Denver, Colorado; and Mrs. Anna Hirsh, Garden City, Mo.
