Mrs. Melvin Unruh, our young deacon's wife, age 39, passed away in a Modesto hospital on Jan. 30. She and her young daughter had gone to the dentists' office in Merced for a final checkup on Jan. 26, and as they left the office to walk to their car, she was stricken with a brain hemorrhage, which rendered her unconscious within a few minutes. She was taken to a specialist in Modesto, but to no avail. She remained in a coma from Tuesday evening until her death on Saturday evening. It's a great shock to her husband and children, and all of us. Death asks no questions. Her funeral on Feb. 4 was one of the largest held in Winton, and many out-of-state friends came to pay their respects. Her remains were laid to rest in the Winton Cemetery. She was a daughter of the late Corney Esau and wife Mary.

Min. and Mrs. Curt Ensz from Cimarron, Kan., and a brother-in-law to the deceased, were here for the funeral. The Enszes were former workers in the Mexico mission field. Also here for the funeral was Min. Raymond Ensz from South Dakota, near Huron, a son of the late Min. John A. Ensz of Inman, Kan. He took part in the funeral service.
