MRS. MARY UNRUH

Mary (Eck) Unruh, daughter of Adam and Eva Eck, was born Nov. 6, 1886, near Moundridge, Kansas, and departed this life Nov. 23, 1954, at the Joslin hospital in Harper, Kansas, age 68 years, 17 days.

On March 11, 1906, she married Daniel J. Unruh. To this union were born five children, Irvin A. and J. Lee of Harper, Denver J. of Corvallis, Oregon, Orvel C., deceased, and Alta Mae, Mrs. Glen Crawford of Potwin, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Orvel in 1935, one grandchild, three sisters, and four brothers.

Early in life she united with the New Hopedale Mennonite church near Meno, Okla., later moving with her family to the Harper community and uniting with the Pleasant Valley Mennonite church near Harper.

She leaves to await a heavenly reunion the immediate family; three brothers, Henry and Dan Eck, of Meno, Okla., Eben Eck of Ringwood, Okla.; two sisters, Lena Koehn of Meno and Eva Unruh of Lynnwood, Calif.; ten grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.

Hers was a life of loving service to those who knew her. A devoted Christian wife, mother, neighbor and friend.

“Friends and loved ones depart, but God is our ever-remaining Guide who will not fail us. His gracious presence makes up all losses; solves all problems.” “The Lord hath comforted his people and will have mercy upon his afflicted.” Isaiah 49:13.

Funeral services were held Nov. 26, 1954, at the Pleasant Valley church, Waldo Miller and W. R. Nafziger officiating. Interment was made in the Pleasant Valley cemetery.
