LINCOLN H. UNRUH

Lincoln H. Unruh was born on Jan. 26, 1899 near Great Bend, Kan. to Henry D. an Mary Boese Unruh. He grew to young manhood on the family farm and received his education in the local Dundee School and the Bible Institute of Los Angeles.

He came to know the Lord in his youth and was baptized July 1, 1971 [sic 1911] by Rev. Peter Dirks, becoming a member of the Bergthal Mennonite Church near Pawnee Rock, Kan.

On July 15, 1925 he was married to Ida Wedel. they made their first home near Larned, Kan. where they farmed for four years. They then moved to their present home near Galva, Kan. This union lasted 46 years, and the Lord blessed it with eight children. Their church membership was transferred to the Emmanuel Mennonite Church of Galva, and later to the First Mennonite Church of McPherson.

He suffered a heart attack on Oct. 3 while in Sunday school and passed from this life the evening of Oct. 4.

Preceding him in death were one brother, Irvin, and three sisters, Augusta, Mabel, and Ida. Those surviving him are his wife, Ida; four sons, James A. of Hesston, Paul H. of Fairbanks, Alaska, Gordon of Conway, and Loren of Ontario, Calif.; four daughters, Viola (Mrs. Vic Koehn) of Galva, Naomi (Mrs. Orville Rutschman) of Hesston, Esther (Mrs. Rod Huebert) of Davenport, Iowa, and Lois (Mrs. Al Stolifer) of Hawalien, Taiwan; 14 grandchildren; one sister, Carrie Smith; and four brothers, Walter, Ralph, Austin and Arthur.

Services were held at First Mennonite Church of McPherson on Oct. 8 at 10:00, conducted by Rev. Ernest Porzelius. Interment was made in Friedenstal Cemetery.
