JACOB P. UNRUH

Jacob P. Unruh of Meno, Okla., passed away Saturday morning, July 7, 1956, after a lengthy illness, reaching the age of 69 years.

Mr. Unruh was born on May 3, 1887, in Marion County, Kansas to the late Peter D. Unruh and Helena Siebert. At the age of six he moved to Oklahoma with his parents and made this his home until his death.

On Sept. 16, 1911, he was baptized upon confession of his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ by the late Rev. John Ratzlaff in the New Hopedale Mennonite Church. He was active in church work, lending a strong hand particularly at the construction of the present church building. He served as a member of the board of trustees at the time of his death. In his earlier days he was also active in school activities.

On Jan. 12, 1913, he was united in marriage to Rachel Jantz. To this union were born three sons, Cecil of Ringwood, Walter of Waukomis, and Vernard of Garber, and one daughter, Mrs. Philip Johnson, Meno.

Three brothers and four sisters preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his wife, Rachel, his three sons, one daughter and six grandchildren; five brothers, John Unruh of Ringwood, Tobe Unruh of Meno, Dave Unruh of Perryton, Texas, Simon Unruh of Enid, Henry Unruh of Meno; and one sister, Agnes Unruh, Meno.

Mrs. Unruh and chilren have fond memories of their husband and father.
