DANIEL J. UNRUH

Daniel J. Unruh was born in Henry Co., Iowa, July 22, 1885, and departed this life Sept. 2, 1956, at the Joslin Hospital in Harper, Kans., age 71 years, one month and 12 days.

Most of his childhood and youth were spent in southeastern Missouri. Later he moved to Meno, Okla.

On March 11, 1906, he was united in marriage to Mary Eck. To this union were born asons, Irvin A. and J. Lee of Harper, Denver J. of Corvalis, Ore., Orvel C., deceased, and one daughter, Alta Mae, Mrs. Glen Crawford of Potwin, Kans., his parents, six brothers and two sisters.

He was preceded in death by his companion who died Nov. 23,1954,a son Orvel in 1935, one grandson, his parents,six brothers and two sisters.

He accepted Christ early in youth and united with the Mennonite church at Birchtree, Mo., later uniting with the Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church near Harper, remaining a faithful and active member.

The first years of married life were spent in the farming occupation near Meno, Okla., later moving to Harper where he spent the remainder of his life.

He leaves to await a heavenly reunion the immediate family; one brother John C. of Lynnwood, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs.Mary Bayne of Parkville, Mo. and Anna Hirsh of Compton, Calif.; grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

His was a life of service. He was a devoted husband and father, a neighbor and friend to all. these memories we shall cherish through the years.

"Friends and loved ones depart, but God is our ever-remaining Guide who will not fail us. His gracious presence makes up all losses, solves all problems."

"The Lord hath comforted his people and will have mercy upon his afflicted," Isaiah 49:13.

Memorial services were conducted at the Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church. Waldo E. Miller gave the sermon on Hebrews 11:1-10. Music was provided by a choral group led by Reuben Yoder. Interment was made in the Pleasant Valley cemetery.
