— Friends here have received word of the death of C. B. Unruh, 63, of Galva, Tuesday at the McPherson hospital. Mr. Unruh had been sickly for some time, and seriously ill for a week or more. he is survived by his wife and eight children. Funeral services will be held at the Emmanuel Mennonite church Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J. J. Ratzlaff of newton, who formerly was minster of the church there.

Cornelius B. Unruh, son of Benjamin P. and Elizabeth Wedel Unruh, was born December 18, 1877, in McPherson county, near Galva, Kansas. He received his education in the Lone Tree district school. When about 16 years old his parents with their family moved to Butler county, near Eldorado, Kansas. Living there for 3 or 4 years, they returned to McPherson county again and purchased the place that later their son, the deceased, bought and which has been his home till his death.
On June 7, 1890, he was baptized by the Rev. Peter Balzer, elder of the Alexanderwohl Congregation, with a class of 22 converts and joined the Canton, now the Emmanuel Mennonite church. He held true to his confession in the faith of Jesus Christ, as his Saviour and Redeemer, and was loyal in faith to his denomination unto his life's end.
February 19, 1899, he joined in holy matrimony with Lena Jantz, and they have shared joy and sorrow together for 42 years, 6 months and 27 days. their union was blessed with 8 children, 3 sons and 5 daughters, as follows: Mary, Mrs. Herman Eck, Moundridge; Elvina, Mrs. Charles Becker; and Minnie, Mrs. Frank Eck, Galva; Roy, Moundridge; Cecile, Mrs. Clinton Wedel, Walton; Alberta, Mrs. LeRoy Decker, McPherson; Orville, Sunnyvale, California, and Vernon, Moundridge, Kansas. All were present at the father's funeral.
He was a strong person and hard worker. His health began to fail at the beginning of this year. Yet he did his farm work this summer, plowed the wheat ground with the tractor. But on Friday, September 5, he consulted a doctor who told hm he had a weak heart and should not do any work for sic months. His condition turned to the worse and on Sunday, September 7, he was taken to the hospital in McPherson, where he passed away into the eternal life on Tuesday noon, September 16, 1941. He reached the age of 63 years, 8 months and 28 days.
He leaves to mourn his departure, his dear wife, 8 children, 5 sons-in-law, 2 daughters-in-law; 15 grandchildren living; one preceded him in death; 4 brothers and 3 sisters, many relatives and a host of friends.
He had his struggle as a Christian, but the Lord Jesus as the High Priest at the right hand of God, has interceded for him, so that he did not lose his faith in the Grace of God. He has left us the hope that he is saved in Christ his Redeemer.
Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon, September 19, at one o'clock at the home and at two o'clock in the new church basement of the Emmanuel Mennonite church.
Because of the sickness of their regular pastor, Rev. G. A. Linscheid, Newton, Rev. Walter A. Gering, Moundridge, and Rev. J. J. Ratzlaff, Newton, preached the funeral sermons. A quartet served with appropriate songs at the home, church and cemetery.
