MRS. CARRIE UNRUH

Carrie Unruh was born Oct. 16, 1889, and passed to her reward Feb. 23, 1963 at the age of 73 years, four months, and seven days.

She was born at Elyria, Kan. to Abraham and Eva Schultz. In 1903 the family moved to Tampa, Kan. where she finished her formal education.

In 1904 she felt the need of a Savior and after confession of her faith, was baptized and received into the fellowship of the Friedenstal Mennonite Church.

On Nov. 18, 1906, she was united in marriage to Daniel A. Unruh, with whom life was shared for over 56 years. The family resided on a farm near Durham, Kan. until moving to Newton in 1946, where she lived with her husband at 519 North Walnut until her death.

Our dear wife and mother was devoted to her husband, children, church and friends. She was a lover of nature and especially enjoyed her flowers. She contributed many bouquets to her shut-in friends and the church.

Om the last several years Mother Unruh endured many hours of suffering. Being bedfast for over two years, she was most appreciative of the tender care received from her husband and children.

She leaves to mourn, her loving husband, Daniel; four sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Clara of Newton, Lee Vern and Edith of Durham, Kan., Paul and Elizabeth of Durham, and Noah and Mary of Newton; one brother, Jacob of Fredonia, Kan.; two sisters, Tilda Unruh of Pawnee Rock, Kan. and Eva Unruh of Hillsboro, Kan.; ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Feb. 27 in the Nazarene Church of Newton, Rev. Earl C. Darden officiated, assisted by Rev. Charles Easterling.
