FRANK UNRAU

Frank Unrau of Abbotsford, B.C. passed away Nov. 6. He was born May 21, 1909 to Franz P. and Elizabeth Unrau, the third of 8 children, in Samara, Russia. In 1910 the family moved to a homestead in Schoenwiese, Russia. In 1926 they immigrated to Margaret, Man. After 7 years working on the farm, he moved to Winnipeg. He worked at labouring jobs while attending Mechanics Trade School. He worked for J.I. Case Co., later becoming shop foreman for its assembly plant in Winnipeg. Laid off during World War II, he repaired planes for Canadian Airways. In 1939 he married Betty Reimer. In 1948 they moved to Chilliwack, B.C., where he partnered with brother-in-law Bill Friesen at Maple Leaf Motors. After many years in business, he retired for a short time. In 1971 he started a new auto parts business, F&E Sales, in Chilliwack. In 1990, he sold the business, retiring to Clearbrook. He travelled to Turkey, Israel and the Philippines. He looked forward to going home to be with his Lord and Betty. He is mourned by daughter Liz Faccini; son Frank; 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. The memorial service was held Nov. lO in Clearbrook MB Church, with Jay Neufeld and Dan Unrau ministering.
