Victorine Lena Ummel

Victorine Lena Dolcher was born in France, June 29, 1953, and passed away December 29, 1930, at the age of 77 years, 5 months and twenty days.

She emigrated to America with Mr. and Mrs. Aeby in February 1873 and lived in Davis County, Iowa for three years. later she moved to Gentry County, Missouri, where she was united in marriage with Rev. Abraham Ummel in April 1876. They moved to Kansas in 1996, settling on a homestead east of Ransom, where they lived until her husband's death, October 12, 1921.

Those remaining to mourn her loss are her children, Mrs. M. Mishler, Mrs. Wm. Jaehde, Mrs. F. W. Klitzke, Mrs. W. O. Sidebottom, Messsrs. Herman, Joel, and Abram Ummel. Twenty-eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren, and a host of friends and neighbors.

She became a member of the Mennonite Church in early life and was a faithful helper in the church of wich [sic] her husband was pastor for many years.

     Life is but a flower from heaven,
Sent to earth the divine way;
     And when the petals wither,
The flower fades away.
