Retired Pastor Dies At Flanagan, Ill.

REV. EMANUEL ULRICH SERVED FLANAGAN CHURCH FOR 40 YEARS

Flanagan, Ill. — Funeral services for Emanuel C. Ulrich, 70, long-time pastor of the Flanagan Mennonite Church, were held March 12 at the Waldo Mennonite Church. Rev. Earl Salzman, present pastor here, officiated and was assisted by Rev. R. L. Hartzler.

Rev. Ulrich died at his home March 10. He was a native and lifelong resident of this community, and was widely known and respected for his service to the church.

Ordained in May 1918 by Rev. Lee Lantz, he served the Flanagan congregation first as assistant pastor and later as full pastor until his retirement June 1, 1958. In former years he was a director of the Mennonite Sanatorium at Bloomington and a member of the Home and Foreign Mission Board of the Central Conference of Mennonites.

Surviving in the immediate family are his wife, four sons, two daughters and nineteen grandchildren.
