South Dakota Pioneer Dies At Age 98

Freeman, S. D.— Death claimed one of the pioneer settlers of the Menno, S. D. community with the passing on Sept. 20 of Mrs. Susanna Tschetter at the age of 98.

Born in South Russia, she came to South Dakota at the age of 13 with her widowed mother and seven brothers and sisters. In 1881 she was married to John Tschetter, who was the first minister of the Salem K.M.B. Church and later served the Bethel K.M.B. Church for many years. They commemorated their 70th wedding anniversary before his death in 1951. After 1948 their home was in Huron.

The large family of survivors includes 10 children, 33 grandchildren and 78 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Bethel M. B. Church, of which she was a member.
