FIVE-YEAR-OLD OHIO LAD FALLS INTO SWOLLEN CREEK, DROWNS

Sugarcreek, Ohio. — Five-year-old Sterling Ray Troyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Troyer of Trail, downed in the swollen waters of Trail creek on March 28.

It was reported that the youth, his 11-year-old brother Ronnie and several companions were walking on the bridge railing in the village of Trail when Sterling fell into the water. He came up two times, calling for help, then disappeared.

The creek was about eight feet deep due to the spring thaw. Initial efforts to recover the body were unsuccessful.

Recover Body of Lad from Creek

Sugarcreek, Ohio. — After more than four days of searching, the body of five-year-old Sterling Troyer of Trail was recovered from Trail Creek, about thee and one-half miles from the place where he fell into the swollen creek waters.

Skin divers, police officers and a number of Amish from this area took part in the search. The body had been caught in tangled tree limbs.

The lad, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Troyer, fell from a bridge railing while playing with his brother and two other companions. Funeral services were held April 3 in the Trail E. & R. church.
