JUDY S. TOMLONSON

Judith Carole Schroeder Tomlonson, 58, of Warrensburg, Mo., died Dec. 3, 1997, at home, of ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease).

She was born May 27, 1939, in Newton, Kan., to Herb and Bertha Goertz Schroeder. She was baptized on Pentecost in 1956 at Tabor Mennonite Church, Newton. She served a year in Mennonite Voluntary Service during 1959-60 in the Washington, D. C., area. She attended Bethel College and Central Missouri State University. She married James E. Tomlonson in 1961 and divorced in 1989.

She was a member of New Beginnings Church of the Brethren, Warrensburg, where she found lasting friendships and support. She continued to value the Mennonite church and appreciated the spiritual training she received from her parents and Tabor Church. During her life she had been a secretary, decorator, quilter, quilt workshop leader, author and information specialist, but her greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother.

She is survived by two daughters, Jana Bond and husband Rusty, and Jill, who came home to care for her, all of Warrensburg; a son, Jeremy of Warrensburg; five grandchildren; her mother, Bertha Schroeder of Goessel; and a sister, Mary Jones of Newton. She was preceded in death by her father, Herb Schroeder, and a brother, Herb Jr.
