TINA TOEWS

Tina Toews (nee Wall)was born on October 10, 1898 in Crimea, South Russia. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Saviour and Lord at 16, and a few years later followed him in baptism and joined the Mennonite Brethren Church.

In 1925 she came to Canada with her family. She married Henry Toews April 5,1926. After living in Winnipeg for a year they settled in the Guernsey-Watrous area of Saskatchewan. During their 28 year there they experienced many hardships as well as many blessings and spiritual nourishment in the Philadelphia Mennonite Brethren Church.

In 1955 they moved to Saskatoon, joining the 33rd Street Church and the Nutana Mennonite Brethren Church in 1964.

Since about 1949 she suffered from head noises, which together with her acute loss of hearing was a difficult cross for her to bear. This caused her to go into the Word and the Spirit opened the truths of it to her. She had a great spiritual concern for her family and church members.

The Lord took her to himself on August 22, at the age of 75 years, 10 months. Rejoicing in the memory of her victorius Christian life, yet mourning her absence, are her husband Henry; her children: Dave and Irene Loewen of Calgary, Rudy and Florence Toews of Watrous, Sask., Milfred and Katie Wall of Meadow Lake, Sask. and Walter and Elfrieda Toews of Saskatooon; nineteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five brothers and two sisters; and many other relatives and close friends. She was predeceased by one son, her parents, two brothers one sister and two grandchildren.
