Serious Auto-Bus Accident In Paraguay

ELEVEN-YEAR-OLD YOUTH KILLED, SEVERAL OTHERS SERIOUSLY INJURED

Winnipeg, Man. — A report published here in the Mennonitische Rundschau gives details of the serious auto-bus accident in Paraguay early in December.

The auto-bus on the narrow guage [sic] railway connecting the Mennonite colonies with Port Casado jumped the rails, causing the instant death of 11-year-old Rudy Toews and critically injuring five other passengers. Among these were Mr. and Mrs. Toews, a youth by the name of Wiebe and Lilly Voth. The former three were flown from Casado to the Mennonite hospital at Philadelphia but Miss Voth was too seriously injured to be taken such distance. The body of the young lad was also brought to Philadelphia for burial.

Derailment of the auto-bus occurred on several occasions before, but with less disastrous results.
