Sister Anna Toews (nee Ensz), was born on the farm near Inman, Kansas, May 6, 1900. She was called to her heavenly home June 7, at 11:15 P. M. at her mother's home near Inman, Kansas. She was an obedient child at home. At the age 21, she became convicted of sin and repented and was baptized on the confession of her faith to the church on April 6, 1921.
On June 5, 1921 we united in marriage. To us were born 4 children. We mutually shared our sorrows and joys 17 years and 2 days. She was not very robust but desired to do her share, and under great difficulties she bore the burdens of her duties. She was a comfort to our family circle. She often realized her shortcomings, which she frequently confessed with tears. It was of great concern to her to teach and rear our children in the admonition and nurture of the Lord, and to be useful in the church and building of God's kingdom.
She had been ill for some time. Several doctors were called who could give no hope. She grew weaker, and at last her end came somewhat unexpectedly.
Through her suffering she at last surrendered to the will of God, committing me and our children to the kind care of our Heavenly Father, asking them to be true to me and God and to so live that we may all meet her in the heavenly kingdom. She also requested other relatives to repent and meet her in glory.
She leaves to mourn her departure, me, her deeply bereaved husband; 4 children: Rosa 10 years; Marline 8 years, Franklin 6 years and Gladwin 4 years; her aged mother, a father and mother-in-law, 7 brothers and 2 sisters. Her father and 2 sister preceded her in death.
Funeral services were conducted at the Zion Church, near Inman, Kansas. Opening remarks and prayer by brother John A. Ensz, Bro. D. H. Ensz took the text from Num. 23:10; Heb. 13:14 and spoke in German, then J. H. Friesen spoke words of comfort and the benediction. The remains were then laid at rest. — The bereaved husband.
