Newton and Vicinity

Mrs. Wanda S. Tieszen, 74, widow of Rev. Abraham F. Tieszen, died Aug. 23 at Bethel Deaconess Hospital. Funeral services were held Saturday forenoon at the Bethel College Church, with Rev. John Esau and Rev. Esko Loewen officiating. Mrs. Tieszen formerly lived at North Newton, and entered Bethel Home for Aged in July 1972. She was a retired teacher. Her husband, who died in 1957, taught at Freeman Junior College and Bethel College and served pastorates in the General Conference and the Congregational Church. Rev. and Mrs. Tieszen formerly operated a book store in Newton. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. David (Barbara) Warkentine, North Newton; two brothers, Gerhard J. Isaac of Denver and Herbert J. Isaac of El Paso, Calif.; a sister, Helene A. Isaac of Altadena, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
