Native of Marion, S. D. Dies in Washington Crash

Marion, S. D. — Funeral services for Vernon Leroy Tieszen, 37, a native of this community who was killed in a car-truck crash at Auburn, Wash., were held Dec. 5 at the Silver Lake M. B. Church here.

Mr. Thieszen [sic Tieszen], son of Mr. and Mrs. Dave R. Tieszen of Marion, was married herein 1953 to Viola Schmidt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter D. Schmidt. They moved to Auburn, Wash. in 1956. Employed by a dairy there, he was instantly killed when his dairy truck collided with an auto at an intersection.

He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church of Auburn, where funeral services were held before the body was returned here.

Survivors in addition to his wife and parents include a son and daughter, as well as brothers and sisters, all living in this area.
