TIMOTHY THUT

Timothy Thut, son of the late Abraham and Elizabeth (Steener [sic Steiner]) Thut, was born August 24, 1876 near Bluffton, Ohio, and died at the Sellersville, Pa. hospital on Sept. 8, 1959. Since April his health had been seriously impaired, so he entered the Rockhill Mennonite home. He reached the age of 83 years.

He was married to Sarah Kulp of Danboro, Pa. on Oct. 5, 1902. In 1907 they moved to Colorado where he farmed for many years in the Cheraw community. Here he was very active in the work of the church, serving as Sunday school superintendent, teacher and chorister. He dearly loved good music and appreciated having the nurses sing for him when he was no longer able to attend church services. He also served his community as a school director for several terms.

In 1923 the family moved to Doylestown, Pa. Here he worked in the Nyce Planing Mill until he retired from active work.

He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Barbara (Mrs. Paul N. Detwiler), and one grandson. Preceding him in death was one daughter, Ada. He was the last surviving member of a family of eight brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were held Sept. 12 at the Bachman funeral home with Rev. Joseph Gross officiating. The body was laid to rest in the Doylestown Mennonite cemetery.
