BERTHA EPP THIESZEN

Bertha Thieszen, daughter of John F. and Katharina Bergen Epp, was born June 30, 1906 on a farm in York County, Neb. and died June 10, 1981 of heart failure at the Henderson Hospital. She was 74.

She was baptized by Heinrich Epp on June 8, 1924 and received into the Bethesda Mennonite Church of Henderson, where she remained a lifelong member.

On Aug. 27, 1925 she married John J. Thieszen, with whom she shared life for 43 years. After living on their farm until 1952, they moved to Henderson. he died in 1968.

She had a cheerful disposition, which was maintained by helping others. Tasks were undertaken with zest and she was rewarded with a sense of accomplishment.

Holding her in loving memory are Diena and husband Gordon Schmidt of Henderson, Rachel and husband Jerry Graber of Parker, S.D., Albert and wife Mildred Jean of Aurora, Bertha Lois and husband Ron Preheim of Aurora, Zella and husband John Penner of Plymouth; a sister, Marie, and husband Daniel Thieszen; brothers, Herman J. and wife Katherine Epp, Jacob and wife Emma Epp, all of Henderson, and Aaron and wife Betty Epp of Cuauhtemoc, Mexico; a foster sister, Tena, and husband Frank Dick of Henderson; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
