AARON THIESZEN

Aaron Thieszen, son of Abraham Thieszen and Marie Siebert Thieszen, was born on Oct. 22, 1882 near Henderson, Neb. and passed away on July 28, 1961 attaining the age of 78 years, nine months and five days.

Upon the confession of his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ he was baptized on June 1, 1903 and received into the membership of the Bethesda Mennonite Church where he remained a faithful member until his death.

He was married to Elizabeth Peters on Feb. 25, 1904. To this union were born six children, Daniel, Marie, Abraham, Aaron, Jacob and Elizabeth. This union was broken when Mrs. Thieszen died March 1, 1914. On June 23, 1914 he married Justina Quiring Kliewer. They have been able to share their sorrows and joys together for 47 years.

Father spent his entire lifetime in the Henderson community. He retired from farming in 1930 but continued to help with the farm work of his children.

He was active in community affairs serving on school boards and the town board. But above all he loved the church where he served as Sunday school teacher, church board member and in other capacities. He was very much concerned that he live the life he professed and desired that all the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren have their names written in the Lamb's book of Life.

At times he mentioned that he was tired of this life since he could not hear well. He was longing for a place where he would be able to understand and hear beyond what he may have missed on earth.

Father had a stroke on June 30 from which he never recovered. He spent four weeks in the Henderson hospital before his death.

He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife Justina, three sons and their wives, Daniel and Marie Thieszen, Abraham and Martha Thieszen, Aaron and Helen Thieszen; two daughters and their husbands, Marie and Jacob H. E. Friesen, Elizabeth and Daniel Mierau, and 23 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Abraham, Abraham A. Thieszen, and three sisters, Marie, Mrs. G. G. Rempel, Sarah, Mrs. C. C. Peters, Anna, Mrs. Frank K. Friesen.
