PETER H. THIESSEN

It pleased the Heavenly Father to take home to himself Peter H. Thiessen of Dalmeny, Sask., on April 23, after reaching the age of 80 years. Though he had enjoyed good health almost all his life, he was ill for two years and had to be hospitalized for the greater part of year before he was released from this life. He was born at Mountain Lake, Minn. on February 8, 1892, son of the Henry Thiessens. He was baptized in 1905 by Rev. A. Buhler. On July 20, 1913 he married Tina Peters in the Mennonite Brethren church in Hepburn. Their marriage was blessed with four sons and two daughters, two of whom predeceased their father, Herbert, the first child, at two years, and Arley in February 1943 while serving with the RCAF. His wife passed away on October 13, 1940 after just over 27 years of marriage. On September 27, 1942 he married Mary Quiring, a union which ended by his passing after 29 years.

He was a man who had enjoyed many occupations. The first 15 years of his married life were spent on the farm. Then for some years he operated a general and oil agency. At the same time he operated a general store in conjunction with a service station and oil agency. At the same time he engaged in general trucking as well as barbering. When that failed to provide the necessities of life he operated a machinery business as well as driving a milk truck, eventually buying the route. He worked until he was 78, the last 12 years for a business in Saskatoon.

Though his family mourn his passing, they are assured of his presence with the Lord. His expressed concern was that each member of his family should one day meet him in glory. He is mourned by his loving wife, Mary; two daughters, Mrs. Arnold (Grace) Warkentin and Mrs. Herb (Evelyn) Friesen; two sons, Marvin of Vancouver and Wilfred of Langley, B.C.; two sons-in-law, two daughters-in- law; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and two brothers, George of St. Catharines and Jake of Yarrow, B.C,
