Jansen, Neb. Pioneer Dies in California

Reedley, Calif. — Word was received here that John A. Thiessen, pioneer business man at Jansen, Neb. and former Reedley resident, died recently at a Los Angeles hospital at the age of 92.

Mr. Thiessen founded the first retail store at Jansen, served as president of the State Bank of Jansen, and was mayor of the town for 20 years. He and his family moved to Reedley in 1919, and he also served one term as mayor of Reedley. the Thiessens moved to Los Angels in 1929.

Mrs. Thiesen [sic Thiessen] died in 1955. Seven children, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren survive.
