JACOB G. THIESSEN

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 1, in the 43rd Street MB Church in Vancouver, for the late Jacob G. Thiessen who passed away in his 91st year on February 25. Officiating at the service were the Rev. D. B. Wiens and H. Klassen.

Jacob Thiessen was born in Muntau, Molotschna, Russia, on May 2, 1876. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Thiessen. Later, the family moved to Schoenau, and it was from here that Mr. Thiessen attended the teacher's training school in Halbstadt. He was saved at the age of 20 and baptized at 22.

In 1896 he was married to Sara Goetz. Twelve children were born to this union. On January 8, 1967 they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. When the family moved to Rueckenau. Mr. Thiessen was ordained for the ministry. He served as a minister for 69 years.

In 1923 they came to Canada and settled in Dalmeny, Saskatchewan. Rev. Thiessen was always involved in church and conference activities both while in Saskatchewan and later when he moved to Vancouver. He is survived by his wife Sara, nine children, 37 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
