text of obituary:

Mrs. Helen Thiessen

Helen Harder Thiessen was born September 25, 1896, near Whitewater, Kansas. Her parents were Bernhard and Helen Harder, nee Wiebe.

At the age of eight years she lost her beloved father through death. At the age of sixteen years she was received as member into the Emmaus Mennonite church through the rite of holy baptism. On June 26, 1917, she was united in marriage to her bereaved husband, John Thiessen.

God blessed this union with three daughters and three sons, all living . In August, 1930, her mother was taken to her eternal home and in November of the same year symptoms of her fatal sickness appeared. In the following years she was operated twelve times. On November 8, 1937, she was confined to bed from which she did not arise any more.

Helen was very grateful for all tokens of love and sympathy which were expressed to her during her long and painful illness. In spite of great agony she was fully yielded to her Savior’s will and waited patiently for the summons of the Lord. She departed to Glory about 4 o’clock p.m., July 4, 1939.

Her age was 42 years, 9 months and 18 days. She leaves to mourn her early death, her bereaved husband, six children, Lydia Helen, Bernhard John, Susan Viola, Gilbert Henry, Dorothy Ruth and Herald Eugene; one sister, Mrs. John Epp Jr., her mother-in-law and many relatives and friends.
