AGNES THIELMANN

Agnes Thielmmm of Abbotsford, B.C. passed away Oct. 31. She was born Oct. 28, 1909 to Aron A. and Agnes Toews in Ruecknau, Molotschna, southern Russia. In 1926 they immigrated to Dalmeny, Sask. She attended school to learn English. A year and a half later, they moved to their own farm in Namaka, Alta. At 19 she accepted Christ. She was baptized and joined Namaka MB Church. She went to Calgary to do housework and help support her family. She married George Thielmann Apr. 27, 1935. He taught Bible school in Gem, Alta. for 8 years. Then they moved to Namaka. In 1947 they moved to Chilliwack, B.C., where he taught Bible school and pastored East Chilliwack MB Church. For 22 years she worked hard on the farm, raising her family and supporting her husband in ministry. In 1969 they moved to Vancouver, where he pastored 43rd Ave. MB Church. In 1978 they did a short-term missions assignment in Asuncion, Paraguay, then retired to Chilliwack. She got Alzheimer's disease. In 1986 they moved to Clearbrook, B.C. Shortly afterward, she moved to Menno Hospital. She is remembered for her gentle, kind-hearted and uncomplaining spirit, listening ear, sense of humour, love of music and many hours of hard work. Predeceased by her husband in spring, 1991 and 2 brothers, she is survived by her children Walter, Erwin, Herta Loewen, Victor, Elma Wilde, Margaret Nolan, Betty Allen and George; 18 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister. The funeral was Nov. 4 in Clearbrook MB Church, with John E. Klassen and P.R. Toews ministering.
