MRS. D. H. SWOPE

Mrs. D. H. Swope, formerly Mary Showalter, was born in Augusta County, Virginia, on Feb. 24, 1873, and passed to her eternal reward at Dayton, Virginia, at her home, on June 8, 1958. She reached the age of 85 years, three months and 14 days. She spent most of her life at Dayton.

In he youth she accepted Christ as her Saviour and was a devoted and faithful member of the Weavers Mennonite church. For many years she was a Sunday School teacher.

On Oct. 5, 1893 she was united in marriage to d. H. Swope. Their home was blessed with three children. In the home, mother and grandmother filled an all-important place. Her life of love was devoted to her beloved husband, children and grandchildren. Her untiring efforts and love will always be cherished by her family and also by all who knew her.

For the past year she had been in failing health and seriously ill three months.

Her marriage was for a period of 64 years, eight months and two days.

Survivors include her life-partner and husband; two daughters, Mrs. Beulah Huber and Mrs. Wayne Driver, both of Dayton; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Miss Annie Showalter and Mrs. Sam Weaver, both of Dayton; three brothers, Henry of Denver, Colo., Dan and Peter Showalter, both of Harrisonburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Jacob Paul, one sister, Sophie Brubaker, and one brother, Menno Showalter.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p. m. Tuesday, June 10, at Weavers Mennonite church in charge of R. W. Benner, Daniel W. Lehman and Lloyd Horst. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery. — The Bereaved Family.
