MRS. SADIE SWARTZENDRUBER

Mrs. Sadie Rebecca Swartzendruber died Dec. 29, 1959 at the home of a niece, Miss Ida King at Wellman, Iowa, where she had been critically ill for four weeks.

She was born Jan. 10, 1872, to Joseph and Mary Troyer Yoder at Benton, Holmes county, Ohio. She reached the age of 87 years, 11 months and 19 days. She came to Iowa in her youth and was there married to Eli J. Swartzendruber on Dec. 13, 1896. He preceded her in death on May 25,1933. No children were born to this union but the home was opened to a foster nephew, Edgar Swartzendruber of Riverside, Iowa, who survives.

Her married life was spent on the Swartzendruber homestead until 16 years ago when she moved to Wellman, from which time she lived with her niece.

She united with the Mennonite church in youth and remained a faithful member thoughout her life.

Other survivors are 17 nieces and nephews and many nieces and nephews of her husband to whom she was Aunt Sadie. She was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters, and was the last member of the family.

Funeral services were held at the Wellman Mennonite church on Dec. 31, 1959, conducted by Rev. Noah Landis and Rev. Geo. S. Miller. Burial was made in the West Union Cemetery beside her husband.
