Goshen, Ind. — Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Chupp of Goshen were recently called to Amity, Oregon to attend funeral services for Mrs. Chupp's brother, 11-year-old Menno Swartzendruber, who drowned while on a fishing trip Dec. 26.
The Chupps moved here from Oregon last October. Also among the survivors is the boy's aunt, Mrs.Anna B. Chupp of route 1, Goshen.

THREE OTHERS ESCAPE WHEN BOAT OVERTURNS ON HUNTING TRIP</h></center>
McMinnville, Ore. — The rushing waters of the South Yamhill River claimed the life of Menno Swartzendruber, Jr., 11-year-old son of Bishop and Mrs. Menno Swartzendruber, on Dec. 26, while three companions narrowly escaped a similar fate when the boat in which they were riding overturned.
Funeral services for the Swartzendruber youth were held in the Amish community here.
Four persons were in the boat, which they allowed to float downstream as they hunted ducks. They were Nelson Stutzman, Mahlon Troyer, Norman and Junior Swartzendruber. The boat swung around in the current, struck a fallen tree, and then turned over and was held in that position by the swiftly moving waters.
The Stutzman youth was able to jump onto the tree before the boat overturned. He helped the Troyer youth out of the waters, and then threw an inner tube to Norman Swartzendruber, who made his way to the opposite bank. They also made desperate efforts to rescue Junior Swartzendruber, but his clothing was caught on a cleat of the overturned boat.
