KATIE SUDERMAN

Katie Suderman of Yarrow, B.C. passed away on July 30 in the Vancouver General Hospital.

Katie was the eldest daughter born to Jacob and Catharine (nee Dirks) Sudermann on November 2, 1923 at Franztal, Russia. Three years later she with her parents emigrated to Canada and settled in Rosser, Manitoba. In 1932 the family moved to Yarrow, where Katie completed elementary school. As a result of the Christian influence of home and Sunday school, she accepted Christ as her personal Saviour, was baptized and received into the fellowship of the Yarrow Church on July 20, 1941.

After graduating from Elim Bible School at Yarrow, Katie worked as a secretary for the West Coast Children's Mission of British Columbia. She then finished her high school and obtained her Teacher's Certificate. She continued her teaching profession until her early departure.

The climax in her life came with the clear and distinct call from the Lord to engage in mission work as a teacher. She left for Cali, Colombia in July, 1968. The stay, however, was not long. Due to illness she had to leave Cali on May 13, 1969.

She was predeceased by her parents. She leaves to mourn her parting three sisters and their husbands, Mrs. Lydia Dyck, of Vancouver, Mrs. Lora Byler of Maryland, U.S., and Mrs. Joan Janzen of Burnaby, B.C.; five nieces and three nephews; and many relatives and friends.
