PIONEER MERCHANT OF HILLSBORO COMMUNITY CALLED BY DEATH

Hillsboro, Kans. — Funeral services were held at the Mennonite Brethren church here Dec. 14 for John W. Suderman, 82, pioneer Hillsboro merchant and a leader in his church and community. Rev. Waldo Hiebert and Dr. P. C. Hiebert officiated.

Coming here from South Russia as a boy, Mr. Suderman experienced pioneer life on the Kansas prairie. He opened a general mercantile store here at the turn of the century in partnership with J. V. Harms and continued active in the business until 1939. At the time of his death he was a director of the First National Bank.
