SAMUEL EMORY STUTZMAN

Samuel Emory Stutzman was born on Dec. 30, 1890 at Kalona, Iowa, the son of Moses J. and Barbara (Swartzendruber) Stutzman. He died at Weatherford, Okla. on March 18, 1974 at the age of 83.

He spent his early years in Iowa where he attended school. Because of his mother's health, the family moved to a farm near Hydro, Okla. in the spring of 1911. The rest of his life was spent in this community where he engaged in farming.

On Nov. 5, 1916, he was married to Barbara Slagell, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Roy of Haven, Kan.; Myron of Weatherford, and Howard of LaJunta, Colo.; and three daughters, Dorothy, Mrs. Levi Mast, Ruth, Mrs. LeRoy Miller, and Lois, Mrs. Richard Waters, all of the Hydro-Weatherford area; 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five sisters and three grandchildren.

He was a member of the Pleasant View Mennonite Church, Hydro, where services were held in charge of Chester Slagell, Alva Swartzendruber, and Henry Yoder. Burial was in the Pleasant View Cemetery. — The Family.
