94-Year-Old Retired Minister Dies

REV. C. N. STUCKY SERVED BERNE CHURCH FOR SIXTEEN YEARS

Berne, Ind. — Funeral services for Rev. Christian N. Stucky, 94, were held Oct. 24 at the Evangelical Mennonite Church near Berne where he served as pastor for a period of 16 years. The aged minister-farmer, one of the oldest residents of this community, died Oct. 21 at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Clinton Dubach.

A native of Alsace-Lorraine, Rev. Stucky came to this country at the age of 25. During his ministry the congregation here was known as the Defenseless Mennonite Church and services were in the German language.

He was married here to Katherine Stucky and she died July 5, 1957, after more than 65 years of married life. Surviving are two sons, two daughters, 22 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, a brother, Joseph Stucky of Peoria, Ill. and a half sister, Mrs. David Schertz of Morton, Ill.
