Four Accident Deaths In Lancaster County

THREE IN ONE FAMILY KILLED WHEN CAR IS STRUCK BROADSIDE

Lancaster, Pa. — A father and his son and daughter were fatally injured Sunday evening, Jan 6, when their car was struck broadside by two racing vehicles on the Lincoln Highway near Sadsburyville.

They were Joseph B. Stoltzfus, 48, driver of the car, his son Joseph B. Jr., 9 years of age both of whom died of fractured skulls shortly after admission to the Coatesville hospital, and Vida Jean Stoltzfus, 17, who passed away two days later of internal injuries. Triple funeral services were to be held Thursday at the Millwood Mennonite church.

The wife and mother, Mrs. Grace Stoltzfus, was seriously injured in the crash and was reported in fair condition at the hospital. A daughter Lena Mae 9, and Clair Miller and John Risser, both 17, of Hagerstown, Md., all passengers in the same car were treated for slight injuries The youths were living with the Stoltzfus family while attending the Millwood Bible school near Atglen.

The family was en route to evening services at the Coatesville Mission when the fatal accident occurred. Mr. Stoltzfus was the son of Amos Stoltzfus of Sadsburyville, who survives him.
