GERTRUDE STOBBE

Gertrude Stobbe of Kelowna, B.C. passed away Mar. 24. She was born Aug. 18, 1922 to Jacob and Suzanna Stobbe in Kuban, Russia. In 1925 the family immigrated to Hochfeldt, Man. In 1928 they moved to Coaldale, Alta. In 1935 she accepted Christ. In 1938 she was baptized and joined Coaldale MB Church. She attended Coaldale Bible School 1942-43. In 1945 the family moved to Chilliwack, B.C. She worked for a while in Chilliwack, then was a housekeeper in Vancouver for a few years. She taught Sunday school and was involved with the Ambassador Group, a ministry to street people. In 1963 she began work at Jericho Hills School for the Deaf and the Blind. In 1967 she began work as a nurse's aide at Pearson Hospital in Vancouver. In 1974 she moved to Kelowna with her mother and sisters Annie and Mary. She worked as a nurse's aide in Kelowna General Hospital, retiring in 1983. She had great admiration for all her family. She was excited when her nieces and nephews visited her, and prayed faithfully for them. Predeceased by 1 brother, she is mourned by sisters Annie, Mary, and Helen Stephan and brother Peter. The memorial service was Mar. 29 in Willow Park Church, Kelowna, with Arnie Peters and Mark Burch ministering.
