Bally, Pa. Couple Fatally Hurt When Two Cars Collide

Bally, Pa. — Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Stinley of Bally were fatally injured June 8 in a two-car collision on route 100 between Boyertown and Bally. They are parents of six children, two of whom are married.

The Stinleys and two grandchildren were returning home from a noon luncheon date with their pastor, Alin Detweiler of the Boyertown Mennonite church, when their car was involved in a collision with one driven by john Cherkis, Freemansburg.

Mrs. Margaret Stinley, 48, was believed killed instantly. Her husband, 49, died at 6:25 p.m. at Pottstown hospital of head injuries. The grandchildren, David Stinley, five, and Judy Stinley, 18 months, were admitted to the hospital for observation.

Mr. Stinley, son of J. Clarence and Virginia (Myers) Stinley, owned his own trucking business here. His wife, daughter of Alfred and Marietta (Freed) Detweiler, was born in Telford. Their children are Mark of Bally, Mrs. Paul (Esther) Moyer of Bally, James, who is graduating this year from Boyerstown Area High School, Ruth, 16, Betty, 14, and Mary, 12.

The double funeral service was held Sunday, June 12, at the Blooming Glen Mennonite Church.
