LIVED ON SAME FARM FOR 57 YEARS

Pandora, Ohio. — Mrs. Susan Steiner, 76, wife of the late Noah Steiner, died at the farm home four miles west of Bluffton on Dec. 29 after an illness of nine months. She had made her home on the Abraham Steiner homestead ever since her marriage to Mr. Steiner on Jan. 6, 1895.

Rev. Reuben Short officiated at the funeral services held at the Bluffton Methodist church on Dec. 31. She was a member of the Evangelical Mennonite church of Bluffton.

MRS. SUSAN STEINER

Mrs. Susan Steiner, widow of the late Noah F. Steiner, passes away at her home four miles west of Bluffton, O. at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 1951 at the age of 76 years, two months and 18 days. She had been in poor health for several years and death followed after a critical nine months’ illness.

Mrs. Steiner was born near Ft. Wayne, Ind. Oct 11, 1875, a daughter of the late Peter and Magdalena (Rupp) Gerig. She was married to Noah F. Steiner Jan. 6, 1895, and set up housekeeping on the Abraham Steiner homestead where they lived their entire married life. Early in life she confessed Christ as her personal Saviour and united with the Evangelical Mennonite church of Bluffton, O. She won many friends through her quit and loving disposition.

Survivors include five daughters: Mrs. Edna Oyer and Mrs. Alma Jorg of Bluffton, O., Mrs. Emma Bertsche of Archbold, O., Mrs. Adella Oyer of Wapakoneta, O., and Mrs. Ada Gierman at home; two sons, Nelson of Bluffton, O. and Stanley of Detroit, Mich.; fifteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. A. H. Steiner and Miss Sarah Gerig residing on the Gerig homestead, and a brother, Noah Gerig of Brinsmade, N. Dakota. One of the grandchildren (James Bertsche) and his daughter, a great-grandchild, are in the Belgian Congo, Africa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who passed away August 15, 1948, also three sons, Abraham, Jonathan, and Glen, one daughter Rozella, and one grandchild.

Funeral services were held at the Bluffton Methodist church Dec. 31,2:30 p.m. with Rev. Reuben Short, pastor of the local Evangelical Mennonite church, in charge.
