MARTHA T. STEINER

Mrs. Martha Steiner, long time member of the First Mennonite Church of Upland, Calif., passed to her eternal rest on Dec. 12, 1955. She was born in Bluffton, Ohio on Jan. 21, 1869, and died at Cloverdale at the advanced age of 86 years.

Mrs. Steiner with her family came to Upland in 1918 and lived here for many years. Her husband, Ephraim Steiner, passed away in 1929.

She lived here until her health did not permit her to live alone. Since then she had stayed with one of her daughters, but often came back to Upland for an extended stay to visit her church and her many friends.

At the time of her passing she was making her home with a daughter, Arvalla Geiger in Cloverdale where she suffered a cerebral hemorrhage. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she succumbed within two days.

Mrs. Steiner is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Arvalla Geiger of Cloverdale and Mrs. Priscilla Deen of Indio; three sons, Ferris of San Mateo, Elno of Santa Paula, and Isaiah of North Hollywood; a sister, Susan Stalter of Ft. Wayne, Ind. and a brother Grover Steiner of Upland.

The remains were brought back to her church where funeral services were conducted by Rev. Paul Goering. Interment followed in the Bellevue Cemetery.
