DAVID LEE STEINER

David lee Steiner was born May 27, 1952, in Elkhart, ind., the second son of Elno W. and Mabel Louise (Smeltzer) Steiner; passed away in Elkhart hospital June 8, 1955, at 9:45 a.m., aged three years and twelve days.

David Lee was born with a congenital heart condition, and every effort was made by skillful physicians and specialists to help him, but in vain. Just recently he spent 17 days in the hospital, and after being home one and one-half days he was returned to the hospital where he spent an additional six days prior to his death. Almost all the time in the hospital he spent in an oxygen tent.

He is survived by his parents, his brother Charles, aged six, his paternal grandparents, Homer and Bertha Steiner, his maternal grandparents, Calvin and Myrtle Smeltzer, his father's maternal grandmother, Mrs. Christ. Zuercher, his mother's paternal grandmother, Mrs. Samuel Smeltzer, and many friends in the church and community.

David Lee was weak physically because of his heart condition, but was a bright and happy little boy. He cooperated perfectly with the hospital personnel during his illness. The last evening of his life he took his medicine from his mother, but the lat morning he told the nurse that he did not wish to eat breakfast as he soon wold be going home. David Lee loved to have his parents read Bible stories to him. Truly he was a precious child, and the family and church rejoice that Jesus assured us that of such is the kingdom of heaven.
