Two Members of Hammer Creek Church Die at 87
Ephrata, Pa. — A retired minister and a retired farmer, both 87 years of age and both members of the Hammer Creek Mennonite Church, Lititz, died recently with a few days of each other.
Rev. Noah W. Hurst died Nov. 27 at the home on Route 1, Ephrata, after a two-week illness. Ordained to the ministry in 1925, he also was a retired farmer. He leaves his widow, the former Lydia Z. Martin, six children and a large number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Christian H. Stauffer died at the local hospital on Sunday, Nov. 29. He had made his home with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. J. Melvin Oberholtzer, in Ephrata. Also surviving is a foster daughter, Lizzie Witmer, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The funerals were conducted on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, respectively, at the Hammer Creek Church.
