Rev. S. E. [sic F.] Sprunger, of Berne, Indiana was called to his reward on Friday, Nov. 16th. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Berne Mennonite church. Pneumonia was the immediate cause of his death. Rev. Sprunger, who died at the age of 75 years and 27 days, was one of the early Swiss Mennonite settlers in the old Sonnenber community in Wayne county, Ohio, he arriving there on May 6th, 1852. In 1868 he was chosen by lot to become a minister in the local congregation; he thereafter studied at Wadsworth Seminary for two and a half years, after which he served continuously in the same pastorage for 33 years.
