Berne Business Leader Dies at Age 87

Berne, Ind. — Funeral services for Albert N. Sprunger, 87, who was one of the founders of at least three Berne business establishments, were conducted March 9 at First Mennonite Church here.

Mr. Sprunger died March 6 at the Berne Nursing Home after a number of years of illness.

Berne business firms with which he was formerly associted include the Berne Milling Co., the Globe Hatchery, Berne Furniture, First Bank of Berne, the Community Exchange, and the old Berne Condensary.

He was a former member of the town council, taught a Sunday school class for over 50 years, and was a charter member of the Mennonite Men's Chorus.

Surviving are one son, five daughters, 19 grandchildren, and two sisters.
