HOMER C. SPRINGER

Homer C. Springer, 90, of Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa, Ill., died Jan. 11, 1996, at St. James Hospital in Pontiac.

He was born Jan. 19, 1906, at Hopedale, to Valentine and Katie Litwiller Springer. He was educated in the Hopedale schools and Goshen (Ind.) College. After his marriage to Ada Stalter on Sept. 15, 1931, he moved to rural Gridley, where he farmed for many years. Upon retirement, they lived in Flanagan until moving to the retirement community five years ago.

He was an active member of Waldo Mennonite Church, Flanagan, and served in many capacities in his church, conference and community. He enjoyed music and sang in a men's quartet for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years; two daughters, Ruth Ann Rogers of Denver, Colo., and Joyce Shafer of Galesburg; two grandsons; a great-granddaughter; and two sisters, Clara Unzicker and Ruth Zehr, both of Eureka. He was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters and an infant daughter.
