ELMER SPRINGER

Elmer J. Springer, 71, of Hopedale, Ill. died April 20 at his home. He had been in ill health for 14 months.

The funeral was held Tuesday at Hopedale Mennonite Church, with Rev. Lee Miller officiating.

Mr. Springer was born on Jan. 10, 1903 in Hopedale, a son of Joseph W. and Mary Litwiller Springer. He married Amanda Sutter on Sept. 25, 1924. She died in 1938. He married Anna B. Stalter on March 2, 1940, in Flanagan.

Surviving are his wife, three sons, Les of Elkhart, Ind., Arlis of Delavan, and Melvin of Armington; three daughters, Mrs. Geraldine Zehr, Morton, Mrs. Mary Ann Heiser, Fisher, and Mrs. Evelyn Ingold, Paxton; three sisters, Mrs. Laura Nafziger and Miss Martha Springer, Hopedale, and Mrs. Ada Schertz, Lowpoint; two brothers, Alin and Simon, Hopedale; 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

A grandson and a daughter preceded him in death.

Mr. Springer was a member of Hopedale Mennonite Church. He was a former director of Hopedale community Bank, and a former trustee of Hopedale Mennonite Church. He farmed at Armington for 40 years before retiring in 1968.
